Yourco User Roles and Permissions
Last updated: March 23, 2026
Yourco has three distinct user roles, each with specific permissions and capabilities designed to support different organizational needs. This document outlines what each role can do within the platform.
Overview of User Roles
Employee | Basic user with limited capabilities |
Manager | Supervisory user with restricted access to specific employees |
Admin | Full administrative access to all system features |
Employee
Employees are the basic users of the Yourco platform with limited permissions focused on receiving and responding to communications through sms. In rare scenarios, employees may be required to login to Yourco in order to view locked resources (polls, files, etc...).
Permissions:
✅ Receive messages from their organization's Yourco number
✅ Send messages into their organization's Yourco number
✅ View past files sent to them within Yourco
✅ View past polls sent to them within Yourco
✅ Update personal preferences
✅ View managers and admins who have access to their messages
Restrictions:
❌ Cannot access the Employee Directory
❌ Cannot send messages to other employees
❌ Cannot view other employees' conversations
❌ Cannot access billing information
❌ Cannot access system settings
❌ Cannot create or manage other users
Manager
Managers have supervisory capabilities with access controlled by specific permissions set by Admin's.
Permissions:
✅ Send and receive messages to/from employees they have access to (this includes the ability to create and send resources (polls, files, etc...)
✅ View Employee Directory (limited to employees they have access to)
✅ Access the Messenger to communicate with their assigned employees
✅ View Dashboard with expanded information about their managed employees
✅ Access Templates
✅ Request add-ons (files, plan upgrades)
✅ Update personal preferences
Restrictions:
❌ Cannot add, remove, or update employee information (Admin-only function)
❌ Cannot create other managers or admins
❌ Cannot access system-wide settings
Managers have granular access control based on:
Locations: Specific office locations or "All Locations"
Departments: Specific departments within locations
Tags: Custom employee tags
Individual Users: Specific employee IDs
System Groups: "All Employees" within their permitted scope
Important Notes:
- Manager access is scoped - they only see employees within their assigned access permissions
- Access can be configured for "All Locations" + "All Employees" for full organizational access
- Managers count toward the organization's "super seat" limit
Admin
Admin's have full access to all system features and can manage the entire organization.
Full Permissions:
✅ Manage Employee Directory (add, update, remove employees)
✅ Send and receive messages to/from ALL employees
✅ Create managers and specify their access permissions
✅ Create and Remove other Admin's
✅ Hide incoming messages from employees
✅ System Preferences access

✅ Turn on/off email authentication
✅ Configure automatic translations
✅ Manage and Configure Security (SSO)

✅ Access Files
✅ View comprehensive Dashboard with full organizational metrics
Note: Billing permission is assigned to all Admins by default. If you would like Managers or Employees to have billing permission, please reach out to support@yourco.io
Security Notes
User roles are hierarchical: Admin > Manager > Employee
Admins have all Manager permissions plus additional administrative capabilities
Managers have all Employee permissions plus supervisory capabilities within their scope
Role changes require administrative privileges
Access permissions for Managers must be explicitly configured by Admins
